6th October 2023 : London workshop for Battle Photographic Society
The following images were taken by photographers from Battle Photographic Society in October 2023.
I was asked to run a street photography workshop day for a group of 8 photographers with a request to include a variety of approaches to street photography, including architecture.
Prior to the day we held a Zoom call so that we could all meet up, plan the day and I could explain my approach to the day.
We agreed the route and where we would stop for lunch (Pizza Express on this occasion).
We started at Borough Market at 10:30 am and work our way over the river to Monument and St. Dunstan before moving on to Leadenhall Market (where we also stopped for lunch before more photography) and finally on to the financial district around Lloyds of London where we finished our photography at about 4:30pm.
We met again on Zoom after two weeks to review everyone's images and to discuss how the day had gone.
A selection of the groups images can be seen below.
Note: The images are copyright of the photographer, all of who agreed to their inclusion on this site.

I really enjoyed the high quality of the images taken and the wide variety of approaches.
There were many more images taken, including a good selection of traditional street images.
Those included were chosen to show a variety of the interesting approaches taken by the photographers.
I hope you enjoy the images as much as I have.

A few comments received about the day:
Alan :
"Peter made the day relaxed and enjoyable thanks to his planning and execution.
The locations and themes were well chosen and we all felt we had learnt useful lessons."
Angela:
" had an enjoyable day in London visiting interesting locations, some new to me, giving the opportunity to take many varied photos. Peter’s advice and the leaflet he gave us are very useful, providing ideas for photographic subjects and techniques".
Geoff:
Once again, many thanks for your help over the past few weeks. The initial briefing, the day in London and the follow-up review were all delivered by you with consideration for all involved, so that we all felt a part of the process. I’m sure that everyone tried something new and learnt from your guidance and I shall certainly be reporting to the whole club in positive terms, so there may be another contingent looking for your help at some time in the coming months.
John:
“Peter gave us each a print out that detailed the locations to be visited, ideas for photographs etc, and this was particularly useful.”
Linda:
"I really enjoyed the day, it was well structured, the four themed locations were totally different to each other. I had plenty of time at each location to give that specific theme thought and was always able to discuss with Peter techniques to use. It was a day well spent and I came away with a pleasing set of images."
p.s. I took a few images myself during the day, these are included below:
