It was cold and icy this morning. A water main was leaking and water had been flowing the previous evening, but now it is all frozen. It will soon be spring?

On the South Bank this afternoon, it gets dark early and the red lights on the London Eye really stood out. I got approached by a security guard again today. I was photographing a model (architectural) through the window at the Shell centre and he wanted to know what I was up to. I simply told him that if they put interesting things in the windows then people will photograph them (see below)!
Its feeling a little warmer today and ventured out to the garden. The green house felt warm and welcoming and there are lemons ready on the tree!
I love the detail in the glass with the muted colours of the trees behind and the algae growing in the gap between the panes of glass. This image makes me feel positive for the year ahead, where it will be warm in the garden as well as in the green house. I woke when the milk was delivered early this morning and the moon was bright and the garden looked very etherial. Snapped this and liked the way the tip of the tree is just visible below the moon.
While they continue to knock things down at an alarming rate, we are assured that it will all be worth while once Waitrose arrives! This shot is of building site and I am not sure what is in the ominous blue barrels.
Probably free coffee for the Waitrose card holding builders. We just got back from Amsterdam where we had a great post-Christmas break. This reflection image was taken using a lovely old Citroen DS car parked in one of the streets near the Foam gallery (Amsterdam's great photography gallery). Highlights were the Vivian Maier exhibition at Foam and the Cinderella ballet at the Dutch National Opera and Ballet. We also had a great guided tour of the Rijks Museum and enjoyed a visit to the Hague for the Mauritshuis and the Peace Palace.
If you are planning a visit don't forget to buy all of your tickets online in advance to save a lot of time queueing to get in everywhere. |
